MARRS 6 came and went. Weather was good. Car was shinny.

A lot happened and not all of it was good. Car is ok but it was a disappointing weekend;

Driving behaviour in the SM class is slowly deteriorting... Of the 4 Practice Sessions on Friday, only one lasted more than 3 laps because people kept crashing into one another.

The Qualifying on Saturday went alright, and I ended up in a "meh" mid-pack postion. It just had been too long since my last race and I was down on pace and back to old driving (bad) habits..

Then the fun began:
During the Saturday short race, I immediately got bumped in Turn 1 . Fair enough, his car is faster and he obvioulsy does not mind contact... There were several more bumps out of Turn 1. Obviously, pushing cars around when there is nowhere to go passes as racing for some. Then, two front runners got together past Turn 2 and I got to see my first miata flying in the air, upside down. That was a scary sight. The pack immediately slowed down a bit before me and ... guess what... BUMP from behind at the Apex of 1. That made my car slide and slow down even more... so driver decided to go on the left, i.e. three car wide... He then proceeded to move into my car, fast, pushing me into the car on my right. He lost control and ended up on the bushes. I lost control and regained control on the right side grass and got the car back on the track safely. I remember thinking "wtf?" when I saw his car crashing into the trees. I was at least able to regain control of my car and minimized damage. The other car on the right was not so lucky and I saw it upside down on the left end side near Turn 4 on the next lap.

I have seen videos taken from the third car on the right (the one that ended up rolled upside down).

Anyway, bumper was trashed and rubbed and since I did not know if the car alignment had been messed up, I pitted. We checked the car later and it was fine so on to Sunday...

Sunday came and we raced before it got too hot. Un-eventful race.

As I said... weekend could have been better....
